Mozambique's Metical is a symbol of individual expropriation through misguided monetary policy.

The old Metical offered here highlights the importance of Bitcoin as an alternative to "hard" money as a collector's item. The 100,000 Meticais banknote features the headquarters of the central bank "Banco de Mocambique". The current valid currency of the Southeast African Republic of Mozambique is the New Metical (plural Meticais). It is issued by the Bank of Mozambique. One New Metical is subdivided into 100 Centavos. The name is derived from the Arabic weight unit Mithqāl. On July 1, 2006, the New Metical was introduced, which corresponds to 1,000 old Meticais.
