Description

Praxeology, the logic of human action, argues that prosperity, progress, and peace in a society arise through logical conclusions. This book lays out these logical laws and explains them clearly through many examples. Praxeology is based on the economists surrounding Ludwig von Mises, who demonstrated that human action cannot be studied using the method of natural sciences. This is also the "revolution of thought," as praxeology derives the logical and value-free laws of action not from empirical observations and experiments but from epistemology. This differentiates it from current economics. From the always true statement "Man acts," properties of every action can initially be derived. Subsequently, interpersonal actions are examined more closely. One of the most important conclusions is that voluntary cooperation benefits both sides, as otherwise, the cooperation would not find consent. These logical laws can be compared to the grammar of language. While we cannot predict what will be said, we can describe the grammar. Likewise, we cannot predict what a person will do, but we can describe the properties of each action. Praxeology proves that free market economy and capitalism, which are based on property and contractual freedom, distribute scarce resources most effectively and efficiently for the prosperity and progress of all. Furthermore, the disadvantages and failures of socialism, planned economy, and other interventionist systems are logically derived.
